Canadians Will Have More Protection Against Nuisance Calls

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                  December 17, 2019

OTTAWA: Gerald Soroka, Member of Parliament for Yellowhead, is pleased to inform constituents that the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has required all telecom service providers to implement a call-blocking system that will better protect Canadians against illegitimate and unsolicited calls.

These systems must be implemented within their networks by December 19, 2019. The implementation of this system will mean that calls that do not come from a number that can be dialled or exceed 15 digits will be blocked before reaching the subscriber.
