Government Supports Jobs and Safe Operations of Junior Mining Exploration

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OTTAWA: Gerald Soroka, Member of Parliament for Yellowhead, and Deputy Shadow Minister for Natural Resources (Forestry and Mining), is pleased to inform constituents that the government is taking measures to support junior mining exploration companies facing significant challenges as a result of COVID-19, including voluntary shutdowns or difficulty accessing the field.

The government is proposing to protect jobs and safe operations of junior mining exploration and other flow-through share issuers, by extending the timelines for spending the capital they raise via flow-through shares by 12 months.

This proposal would mean that companies with operations that are impacted by COVID-19 would be allowed additional time to incur eligible expenses and avoid costs from not meeting original flow-through share timelines.
