MP Gerald Soroka Will Not be Voting in Favour of the Throne Speech

OTTAWA:  Gerald Soroka Member of Parliament for Yellowhead after listening to the Liberal Throne Speech this afternoon was very disappointed. As mentioned on his Facebook “I will be listening closely to the throne speech and demanding support for western Canada. Our Natural Resource and Agriculture sectors must not be forgotten.”  To no surprise western alienation and national unity concerns were not addressed.  The 32-page Throne Speech having 6,783 words not one word was about pipelines, oil or gas.  There was no mention of:

  • Natural resources
  • Agriculture, forestry
  • Veterans
  • Controlling spending
  • Help for Canadians worried about their health, their loved ones, their jobs, and how they are going to pay their bills through the winter
  • A commitment to increase health transfers – which was the provinces’ top ask.

Instead of laying out a plan to help Canadians the Liberals have once again left Canadians behind.

Under the leadership of Erin O’Toole, Conservatives will hold the Trudeau government to account, and we will put forward a plan that keeps Canadians safe, protects jobs and gets our country back on track.

I will not be voting in favour of the Throne Speech.
