Support for Canada’s Forest Sector Economic Recovery

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OTTAWA: Gerald Soroka, Member of Parliament for Yellowhead, and Deputy Shadow Minister for Natural Resources (Forestry and Mining) is pleased to inform constituents that the government will be investing in our forestry sector to assist with its economic recovery.

The government has launched calls for proposals for the Investments in Forest Industry Transformation (IFIT) program and The Indigenous Forestry Initiative (IFI) program.

The IFIT program will invest almost $83 million to bridge the gap between new product development and commercialization and ensure a more competitive and resilient forest sector. Through the IFI program, the government will invest almost $13 million to support Indigenous participation in forestry-related opportunities, businesses, careers and governance.

The application process is now open, and organizations are encouraged to apply here.
